~This is MY Super Hero…my MOST amazing mom….
Words escape me for I love thee with such strength as fills my entire being….~
Now onto our Heroes’ message….
Sometimes…yes…sometimes….
Well, I’m just going to come right out and say it..sometimes being a mom just sucks. It does. When your child is sick, you’ve done all you can, but the pain persists and all you can do is hold your child until your arms ache with love and your mind is numb with worry. When your children get older and you want to help them, but know the best way is to let them figure it out on their own, causing the inevitable ‘Swiss-Cheese-Tongue Syndrome’ known best by moms who have to hold their tongues in the interest of their children’s growth and development.
When you’ve used every trick in the book to get through one more night of homework hell and, well, it’s STILL an inferno.
When your heart aches for your children who are plagued by bullying, an imbalance, disability, allergy, pain, hidden or obvious difference or challenge….because for the umpteenth time, the millionth outburst, the last frayed-beyond-recognition nerve breaks…you feel helpless and alone.
When you’ve done EVERYTHING possible for your children and you STILL feel as though you’ve failed…typically because someone, somewhere, has (supposedly) done it better…has made it to one more game, one more Mother’s Day program, one more performance…has dotted one more ‘I’ and crossed one more ‘t’ than you. When your children fail, you feel you have failed them. When they fall, you want to lift them back up. And when YOU fall….well, you want to just stay there and melt into the earth, tears flowing into a river of oblivion.
Yes, sometimes, being a mom just sucks.
Well, my Heroes, I’ve got a little something for you. Whether you’re a mom out there, or know a mom, or have a mom, or have children….this applies to all of us, but, well, it IS Mother’s Day, so we are going to focus there, take this to heart, my Heroes, whomever you are…..and pass it along to the moms you know, or even those you don’t, because we ALL need to be reminded….
YOU Are the SUPER in My HERO
The love you give so generously
Is not pain-free
It comes with tears, anger, joy, and ecstasy
Failures come, failures go
Each time you fall you rise
YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
Temper tantrums, hospital visits, midnight runs to pharmacies
Website searches, homework hell, school projects that you’d like to drop in a well
YoYo taxi driving, mad dashes for the bell
YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
Long nights, sleepless and crazed
Lunches made, bills paid, work to be done, no maid
Tearful goodbyes, laughing to tears,
Days flying by, nights into years
YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
The last straw was months ago, tho never would we know….
Hot-glue-gun wielding, healing giggles never yielding
Screaming, silence, close the door
Laughter brings you to the floor
YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
Friendships come and friendships go
Soul-to-heart……through the spirit it does flow
The love of a mom
In all shapes, sizes, textures, colors, and ways
Brings light to the darkness
Wings to the forlorn
Shines along the path of life each and every day
That you might always find your way
For YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
For all the times we’ve cried
In pain, anger, joy, delight
For all the laughs we’ve shared, the magic that surrounds
For every time you feel as though you’ve drowned
For all you’ve taught me, and all that I have yet to learn
YOU are the SUPER in my HERO
No words convey the gratitude, admiration, inspiration, and love
But each and every day, I hope you know…
YOU, mom, are the SUPER in MY HERO.
Happy Mother’s Day to all and thank each and every one of you, from the depths of my heart to yours, for being the HEROES you are. You bless us all.
Much love & gratitude,
